CLINIC, the first project developed by RVB, aims to explore the aesthetics of the medical universe through contemporary photography. Going beyond photojournalism, twelve photographers have confronted their unique perspectives regarding the multiple facets of this theme.  Partly created through artist residency programs in hospitals, their works deliver an intimate vision of these spaces and their inhabitants.

In a parallel manner, the members of the magazine Useful Photography have selected vernacular photographs related to the medical universe.  Produced for other motivations than the aesthetic gesture, these photographs have a utilitarian function. They are originally from scientific publications, communication documents, instruction manuals, etc.  This selection supplies a particular and singular point of view on the medical universe.

The project has been presented through projections, first at the Contemporary Museum of Art in Lyon, then during Nuit Blanche, a night of art events in Paris. The second phase of the project will consist of exhibiting projections or prints in accordance with the theme of each series. A book publication containing all of the photographers’ works will complete the project.
