Ville Lenkkeri - Reality in the Making

In his series titled Reality in the making,Ville Lenkkeri spent over five years studying the different ways in which models, simulations and representations are used toexplain and condense the real. For CLINIC, he has extended this approach by taking a keen interest in samples of the deceased as well as the various models and casts used to stop time, showing us with objectivity characteristic to all medicine something that once was, but is now preserved. His work also questions the photographic medium and its capacity to record the real with objectivity.

Ville Lenkkeri was born in Oulu (Finland) in 1972. He began studying photography at the University of Art and Design (TaiK) in Helsinki, he studied film in Prague and also briefly in London. He has exhibited at Nouvelle Image gallery, Den Haag (2006), Flach gallery, Stockholm (2005), Pôle Image Haute-Normandie, Rouen (2004), Forum fur Fotografie, Cologne (2004), Nathalie Parienté gallery, Paris (November 2003), at Pohjoinen valokuvakeskus, Oulu, Finland (2003) and at Hippolyte gallery, Helsinki (2002), among others. He has published Reality in the making (Hatje Cantz, 2006).
