Peter Granser - Alzheimer

The series of portraits realized by Peter Granser portrays the faces of those who have Alzheimer's. The loss of memory and attack on language characterizes people who have been touched by this disease in their older age.  By penetrating the universe of this disease, Peter Granser suggests the loneliness of its victims, but also tries to give space and dignity to his subjects.

Peter Granser was born in 1971 in Hanover, Germany. He is an Austrian citizen. His work has been exhibited at the Kunsthalle Tuebingen (2006), Kamel Mennour Gallery, Paris (2004/2006), Rencontres d´Arles, France (2004), Photo Espana, Madrid (2003), Bundeskunsthalle Bonn, Germany (2003) and World Press Photo 2002. (Selection). Three of his projects were published as books: Sun City (Benteli, 2003), Alzheimer (Kehrer, 2005), and Coney Island (Hatje Cantz / Mennour, 2006). Peter Granser received the Arles Discovery Award (2002) and the Oskar Barnack Award (2004). He is represented by Kamel Mennour Gallery, Paris.
