Eric Baudelaire - Pavillon Gabriel : Artificial Kidney and GraftEric Baudelaire takes an interest in people whose kidneys have given up. Pavillon Gabriel explores in a parallel manner two aspects of the nephrology activity in Tenon Hospital (Paris), one external and mechanic, the other internal and organic. On the one hand, dialysis, where an external machine substitutes for patients’ failing kidneys for five hours, three times a week. On the other hand, the surgical graft process and the donation of a kidney from a mother to her daughter. Pavillon Gabriel is also an homage from the photographer to his grandfather, Gabriel Richet, who has dedicated his career as a doctor at Tenon Hospital to these two processes. Born in 1973 in Salt Lake City (USA), Eric Baudelaire lives and works in Paris. Recently his work has been exhibited at Phillips de Pury, New York (2006), Château d’Eau, Toulouse (2005), Arsenal de Metz (2005) and Baudoin Lebon Gallery, Paris (2005). He is currently preparing an exhibition at Galerìa Juana de Aizpuru, Madrid (2007). He has published États Imaginés (Actes Sud, 2005). His work is in the collections of the Centre George Pompidou (Paris) and in the French Contemporary Art Fund (FNAC).
