Christophe Bourguedieu - Scenes

Christophe Bourguedieu worked in collaboration with the mobile emergency resuscitation unit of Corbeil-Essonnes. The series of images, which he titled Scenes, alludes to the organization of emergency help, which is set up in minutes calling upon doctors, firemen, and sometimes, police officers. Scenes shows the outreach of the hospital universe as it is often represented. The fascination for machines and technology reverts back to humans and to the consciousness of the precariousness of fate. Through this work, the photographer examines the essence of the social contract which exists in France today.

Christophe Bourguedieu was born in 1961 in Marrakech. His work is best known through three books he has published: Eden (Le Point du Jour / 779, 2004), Tavastia (Le Point du Jour, 2002), and Le Cartographe (Le Point du Jour, 2000). More recently, Bourguedieu worked in Japan on Kyoto Dorama and in Western Australia on projects that will form the content of his next book, Les Passagers. He has exhibited at the 779 Gallery (Paris), the Galerie du Château d’Eau (Toulouse), the Château de Chambord during the festival Images au Centre, the Photo Museum of Anvers, the Box Gallery (Bruxelles), the Photographers' Gallery (London) and at the Finnish Museum of Photography (Helsinki).
